Open Enrollment begins at the North Platte Senior Center
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Volunteers at the North Platte Senior Center are encouraging the community to be ready to make their appointments for Open Enrollment as time slots fill up fast. Volunteers will be taking appointments for Medicare Part D patients who want to check in on their prescription insurance. These volunteers help hundreds of people save thousands of dollars a year.
“Without a plan if you don’t get into a plan when you need to it could be the difference between paying full priced for a really high expensive you know $500 a month drug or having an insurance plan really reduce the costs,” said North Platte Senior Center Director, Rebecca Blume.
Open Enrollment will be from Oct. 15 to Dec. 7. Medicare patients will use this appointment at the Senior Center to check their insurance plan to make sure the plan still covers their medications.
“Whether COVIDs here or not the insurance is going to still keep going on. They’re still going to keep needing their prescriptions and they’re still going to need to check to make sure those prescriptions are covered. If not they’re not going to be saving the money they desperately need,” said Blume.
This year with COVID they will have those who have an appointment wait in their car and wait for a volunteer to come out and get them. Everyone will wear masks. To schedule an appointment call the Senior Center at 308-532-6544 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Make sure to bring a current medicare card and a complete list of prescriptions including dosages and frequency.
