NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The softball fields at Cody Park were packed on Saturday. The 5th Annual MayDay 4 Grady softball fundraiser featuring sixteen teams ranging from Cheyenne to Omaha. The event usually happens in May but due to COVID-19, the event was postponed to this weekend. The event is named after tournament director Bill Simants' son Grady.

“Grady is still battling brain cancer and with all the people who have reached out to us and want to help and want to support, I think it means something for us as a family when we get that support. It kind of restores your faith in humanity and people do care,” said Simants.

Proceeds from the event are donated to local families affected by pediatric brain cancer. To date, the event has raised over twenty thousand dollars.
