Planting a memorial
Remembering Ravi Zacharias
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A tree donated by anonymous supporters of the North Platte Tree Board is now standing in North Platte’s Orabella Park in memory of award-winning author and Christian speaker Ravi Zacharias.
The North Platte Tree Board and local Boy Scouts held the ceremony.
Tree Board Consultant Mary Shimmin Zacharias said Zacharias spoke at many colleges about taking care of each other, kindness, and religion. She said his books had a profound impact on her life and she encourages others to be as kind to others as he was.
“Everybody should learn to be more humble and caring for your neighbor, which your neighbor could be close to you or far away. Ravi used to talk about making sure people had food and clothing, place to sleep and stay, and he was just so caring about people,” said Shimmin.
Zacharias is remembered as a minister, and an award winning author. He died in May this year, losing his battle with cancer.
