NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - We are just four weeks into the November General Election and this year Lincoln County voters will be faced with a long ballot. In fact, there are 129 different types of ballots depending on where you live. One of the issues voters will be voting on is the Economic Development Plan.

This years ballots are going to look a little different. On the back of your ballot you will have the option to approve The Economic Development Plan. Or as you may have seen on signs around town, vote yes to quality growth. Two initiatives will be listed. The first initiative will be a vote yes or no for the economic development plan. The second will be a vote for their funding. Gary Person with the Chamber said this brings growth to the economy and jobs.

“Some of it comes down to location location location obviously but the easier you can make it for that company to make that critical decision it’ll pay off, pay for itself, ten-fold over,” said President and CEO Of North Platte Area Chamber Development, Gary Person.

Person said this initiative keeps North Platte competitive in bringing business to the community.

“Though this program has proved itself to not only help the small business but the larger business that you’re trying to attract to town. But I guarantee without that you know to get that home run project you have to be able to have a fund like that to be able to be competitive,” said Person.

He said your vote matters.

“It’s your community, your future, your vote. You’re the one that gets to decide what North Platte looks like in the future and we can make it look a whole lot better if we have the tools to work with. We’re asking folks to give us those tools and we can make it work," said Person.
