Sunshine, Warm and Dry Weather Continue into Tuesday
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - More of the same is expected into the day on Tuesday as the forecast is highlighted by mainly sunny and dry conditions. A weak cold front that pushed through which will hold temperatures down a bit, but most of us should see high temperatures into the upper 60s to near 70 on Tuesday, with northern Nebraska seeing temperatures topping out in the mid-60s.
Early on Tuesday winds are expected to be out of the north and northwest behind the weak front, but through the day winds will turn back to the south and southeast at around 10 to 20 MPH. Some gusts between 20 and 30 MPH are possible, but overall it won’t be quite as breezy on Tuesday as it’s been the last few days.
More sunshine and windy weather are expected on Wednesday ahead of another cold front that’s expected to move through the area. Temperatures should again sit in the lower to middle 70s for North Platte with winds turning to the north and northwest as the front moves through with gusts up to 45 mph possible. While an isolated shower can’t be ruled out as the front passes through, it looks like mainly dry weather is expected.
Behind the front and into the day on Thursday, cooler temperatures are expected with highs falling into the 50s across the state. It looks like temperatures will then stay below average for the remainder of the week with highs in the 50s and 60s with mainly dry weather.
With continued dry and breezy conditions expected at times this week, fire danger will likely remain elevated for much of central and western Nebraska. Make sure to take extra precautions with outdoor fires and if it all possible, continue to avoid doing any burning over the next few days.
