Bailey Boswell found guilty of first-degree murder

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - After three years, the Loofe family has justice for 24-year-old Sydney’s death.

As a jury of eight men and four women found Bailey Boswell guilty of first degree murder, improper disposal of human remains and conspiracy to commit murder.

The jury deliberated for just over three hours.

That’s the same amount of time it took the jury in Aubrey Trail trial in 2019 to convict him of the same crimes.

10/11 NOW spoke with three jurors after they were dismissed.

The jury foreman, Logan Cashman, said it was a good jury panel and all of the jurors were on the same page throughout deliberations.

“We went through each detail to make sure there was no issues, nobody having second thoughts,” Cashman said.

He said they all had some questions about facts of the case, but as soon as they reviewed the evidence, they had their answer.

Another juror, Ed Scheuffele said there was no specific piece of evidence that sealed their decision.

“Everything overall, just as you went along with it it just started add up up more and more,” Scheuffele said.

Juror Jerry Fales said the same.

“The facts and the scenarios and the timelines put forth, the math of it just made it so easy,” Fales said.

Fales said it was an honor to serve on the jury, but it wasn’t always easy.

“It was difficult, it’s on your mind all day long ever since you get that first piece of evidence,” Fales said.

When asked how they were able to handle the gruesome photos of the discovery and autopsy of Loofe’s body, Cashman said it was something they all had to mentally prepare for.

“I think ultimately it had to be shown,” Cashman said.

The overarching message from all three jurors was that they hope this verdict brings closure to the Loofe family.

“We know in no way this will ever make that right,” Cashman said. “So I hope it helps the healing process and I hope they know that we are sorry for their loss and hope they can get through this.”

The Loofe family wasn’t available for comment following the verdict.

The defense, prosecution, FBI agents and Saline County Sheriff declined to comment at this time.
