NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -

The North Platte Volleyball team has announced they will not be competing in this upcoming weekends Alliance Pilford Volleyball Tournament, due to a rise in COVID-19 cases. North Platte High School released the following statement:

“After consulting with our Superintendent, Principle, Head Coach, and other Nebraska AD’s, we have made the decision to NOT compete in the Pilford Volleyball Invitational in Alliance, Nebraska this coming Saturday, (10.24.20). As a district we are uncomfortable sending out students, coaches, and community to such a high risk area with such a short turnaround to districts on Tuesday. We have made it safe the entire season and we as a district would forever question ourselves if something was to happen this weekend. Our ladies volleyball team has abided by all the requirements we have asked of them the entire season and in doing so have had a very successful fall campaign. We do not wish to place them in a situation which could potentially jeopardize all the hard work they have put in up to this point. We thank you in advance for your understanding and support in this decision.”
