NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -On Oct. 19, 2020, Gov. Pete Ricketts announced a second round of grants to help local businesses and individuals who may have not received funding from the first COVID relief package.

The second wave of grants uses $160 million from the $1 billion federal funding sent to the state as a part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security, or CARES Act.

Tourism, hotel and convention centers who took an economical hit due to the cancellations of events will be eligible for $34 million of new grants.

Restaurants and bars that received aid from the first round of grants can apply for the second round of $12,000 grants.

This new set of grant allocates money to businesses who did not receive funding from the first Any restaurants and bars who did not receive funds from the first round are eligible for $24,000 grants.

Small businesses and livestock producers who did not receive a first-round grant can receive up to $12,000.

All grants are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis, with applications being accepted beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 21 at 10 a.m. The application process ends on Nov. 13, 2020.
