NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - News 2 had many questions directed at the station about the status of Halloween in North Platte. For all intents and purposes it seems that Halloween is “on." However, it is ultimately up to each person to decide what is best for them, and their situation.

News 2 reached out to the North Platte Police Department to see if they had any advice on the status of Halloween, and they did not comment.

And so, concerning the safety and etiquette of Halloween for 2020, if the porch light is on, the folks at home are participating. But experts remind us (as in every year) to go to places you know, regardless.

And the West Central District Health Department continues to stress the importance of wearing masks if you do go trick-or-treating (and in all social situations). Other experts say to wear masks in addition to Halloween masks. Continue good hygiene and practice social distancing.

As for other safety tips we hear every year: wear safe costumes you can see out of, and those that allow you to move freely. Make sure you can be seen, including wearing reflective tape if necessary.

And have an adult inspect candy before kids eat it.

Oh - and have a Happy Halloween!
