NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - In the early morning hours on the day after the 2020 election, Brandon Kelliher seems to be winning the race for North Platte Mayor, replacing Mayor Dwight Livingston. With 11 of the 14 precincts counted, Kellier has 4,853 votes to opponent John Hale’s 3,255.

This race will be updated as soon as results become available.

Original Story:

John Hale and Brandon Kelliher are both hoping to be North Platte’s next Mayor with Dwight Livingston not seeking re-election. Both candidates have extensive business backgrounds and have lived in North Platte for several decades.

“I want to make North Platte the community where our children and grandchildren want to live and can prosper, it’s that simple. And to do that, we have to improve the business opportunities, we have to improve the job opportunities in our community,” said Mr. Kelliher.

“My vision and goals for North Platte are to grow North Platte and the only way we’re going to do that is to get young people, young families, and retirees to come back to North Platte. I think the best way to do that is to get with people who have lived here or grew up here and say ‘here’s what we’ve got to offer,’” said Mr. Hale.

We conducted sit down interviews with both candidates and additional commentary in their own words can be found in the video above.
