NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A local Firefighter’s Union and the community are working together to keep kids warm this winter. Operation Warm has hit their third year of fundraising.
Ten local organizations helped bring awareness to the community and encouraged them to participate. They raised $6400 and bought 300 coats. They also provided hats and gloves. Five different elementary schools in North Platte as well as Mullen, Thedford, Hershey and Ogallala received coats.
Scott Ambrose, Firefighter EMT, said they are proud of how much the community has stepped up.
Ambrose encourages anyone with extra coats to donate those to Salvation Amy now that Operation Warm has concluded.
