Veterans honored at The 20th Century Veterans Memorial

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Veterans being honored today at the veterans memorial in North Platte. The community listened to speakers and showed support for their fellow veterans. The evening began with The National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, and patriotic songs.

Guest speakers talked about the history of Veterans Day. In addition to Veteran’s Day activities, a cake was also cut to celebrate the marine corps 245th birthday.

Veterans memorial president Kevin Kennedy saying veterans day reminds veterans the community cares.

Veteran, Duane Deterding, teared up as he received his quilt of valor for serving in the US Marine Corps for four years. Participants also had a “grab and go” dinner to take home.
