Become a flu fighter
Help stop the spread
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Getting your annual flu shot is important to do every year, and this year more than ever. In 2019 there were more than 400,000 people hospitalized in the United States due to influenza. The health care system worries that they will run out of hospital beds before the peak of the flu season as a result of the pandemic.
Executive Director of West Central District Health Department Shannon Vanderheiden shares why healthcare staff members are so worried.
Other countries continue to see fewer cases of the flu this year due to immunizations, Social distancing guidelines and mask-wearing being recommended. The West Central District Health Department (WCDHD) offers drive-up and walk-in flu shots, and if you don’t have health insurance then do not worry. The WCDHD has you covered with programs allowing you to receive your flu shot for free. You can also get a flu shot through your primary care doctor or by going to Walgreen’s.
