NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -

For the first time since becoming a co-op the Sandhills-Thedford Knights football team will be playing for the D2 State Championship,after they defeated the Falls City Sacred Heart Irish 36-26. The Knights outscored the Irish 16-2 in the fourth quarter and took the lead for good after a touchdown from Dane Pokorny with 9:44 left in the fourth quarter.

The Arthur County Wolves saw their season come to an end at home against the Sterling Jets, 60-58. After falling behind early in the game 12-0, the Jets found their groove on offense and hung on for the win.

Dundy-County Stratton faced the top seed in the D1 bracket, the Tri County Trojans. The Tigers trailed 24-20, before scoring the games final 22 points to win 42-24, handing Tri County their first and only loss on the season.
