NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -The global health pandemic has modified how different local organizations operate with the community. One North Platte organization has found ways to not only continue various projects in the area but also provide resources to protect themselves from the coronavirus.

The North Platte Elk’s Lodge #985 handed out free COVID-19 prevention kits on Saturday.

Each kit was equipped with masks, gloves, hand wipes, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, tissues, and antibacterial wipes.

“Well we have all been shopping and can’t find wipes or can’t find masks,” said Shirley Nisley of the North Platte Elk’s Lodge #985. “We thought if we got enough people to pick up these items and hand them out this would help others right now, so that’s what we did.”

The North Platte Elk’s Lodge #985 received a grant to host COVID-19 relief projects.

The distribution of the prevention kits was just one of the many projects the Elk’s do in the community.

In the upcoming weeks, they are planning their annual dictionary handouts to children in the community.
