North Platte Community Playhouse fundraiser
A Christmas boutique and bake sale hosted by the Playhouse Guild
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Today at the Fox Theater, the Playhouse Guild held a fundraiser for the North Platte Community Playhouse. The fundraiser offered baked goods and Christmas decorations. Normally, the group fundraises through open house events, but due to Covid-19, they had to get creative this year.
“We thought that we had to do something to raise money for the playhouse. This year, instead of the Tour of Homes fundraiser, we are having a sweet boutique. We really went all out with this boutique,” said Playhouse Guild volunteer Joni Lloyd.
Lloyd went on to explain the effects that the pandemic has had on the playhouse.
“Due to the lack of plays, the money shortage is real so donations are welcome past today...We’re disappointed to not be having plays right now but that could change in the spring, and that’s what we’re hoping for,” added Lloyd.
Another volunteer, Rachelle Huebner, was thrilled to be helping with the event and hopes that the community will support the playhouse.
“It’s a lot of fun for us, I love Christmas and when you get to share those great feelings with everyone in the community, it’s just wonderful...I would like to encourage people to like the North Platte Playhouse Guild on Facebook and stay up to date with us,” said Huebner.
Lloyd is confident the community will help the playhouse get through these difficult times.
“This community is great because it comes together. This community does more for people than any other that I’ve been a part of. North Platte does amazing things with the funding that we have,” said Lloyd.
