NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Lows for Monday morning dropped into the single digits with mostly clear skies overnight. Temperatures will quickly warm up into the low-50s.

Temperatures in the 40s and even 30s will be common over the next 7 days. We will however stay on the dry side with a good amount of sunshine for Sunday and Monday. More cloud cover is in store for mid-week, but most of the systems that will produce rain/snow will once again miss us through the next week.

Even through there will not be a lot of travel troubles next week, the dry pattern is continuing to take its toll. The latest Drought Monitor released on Wednesday downgraded all of Southwest Nebraska south if Interstate 80 into the extreme drought category. This includes areas south of North Platte in Southern Lincoln County. Year to day rainfall deficits in the southwest part of the state range from 5.37″ in North Platte to close to 9 inches in Imperial. The driest part of the state is around Sidney, showing a rainfall deficit of over a foot.
