NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A local business is ensuring deployed members of the armed forces are not left behind this holiday season.

Brittany’s in the Platte River Mall is collecting monetary donations and supplies for Operation Christmas Card. The non-profit organization is once again sending Christmas cards and care packages to active service members stationed around the country or overseas.

However, as of right now, the organization is two thousand dollars short in donations.

“I’ve met through my travels around the country, especially, down in Branson, Missouri where it’s a very heavily populated military community of vets and almost everyone I spoke to had been in the military and they remember getting those care packages,” said Aaron Adams, owner of Brittany’s. ”I remember talking to one guy who was brought to tears when he was talking and he remembered getting one of those care packages over the holidays, so it’s an amazing organization.”

Some of the items that are needed include, men’s deodorant, baby wipes, individual serving sized peanut butter, and baby powder.

Donations, whether it’s supplies or monetary, can be dropped off at Brittany’s. The clothing store will be hosting a Sip and Shop event next Saturday, December 5th from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. where they will be collecting donations.

Lazy RW will be on hand for a whiskey tasting.
