NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Mid Nebraska Community Foundation is kicking off their Year End Giving, a convenient way for people to help their favorite local nonprofits. Around 69 participating nonprofits are available to donate to through This will be open through the month of December. Executive Director of the Mid Nebraska Community Foundation Eric Seacrest said the community always steps up to create improvement in their community.

“The community over the years has been very generous to support causes that they believe in. We’ve been involved in many,” said Seacrest.

Local nonprofit North Platte Trails says their goal is to receive funding to complete their project on State Farm Road. They will be connecting that the trail on State Farm Road to the Buffalo Bill trail so people can safely get from point A to point B.

“You know from a stand point of having that family time and being able to go out for really long rides and not have to go for a little short one and turn around and go back that you can make that continuous loop. It’s also from a safety stand point so that we can get kids from their schools to their homes safely and vice versa,” said North Platte Trails Network Board Member, Shae Caldwell.

Seacrest said the pandemic has created a higher need for local support for nonprofits.

“Our local nonprofits have really been challenged this year. They are virtual without any exception stressed by the COVID stuff. It’s been more difficult for them to raise money and they’ve asked us to do what we can to help them,” said Seacrest.
