NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Mid-Plains United Way’s Executive Director Alisha Forbes is moving on after two years and three campaigns with United Way. United Way dedicates its time to serving the community and nonprofits in education, health, housing, financial stability, public policy advocacy, and more.

We are here to ultimately serve the community. One of the greatest ways we are able to do that are through donations provided by the community. We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for the generosity from the 16 counties that we serve.

Alisha Forbes

Forbes connects businesses to non profits to bring the community the resources they need and creates fun ways to do so such as chili cook offs and social gatherings.

It’s been a wild ride, it’s a very fulfilling job. I’m very thankful for it but I’m really excited for the next step in life. I just want to make sure that we get a really good replacement for me so they can take all the work that I’ve put into the organization and take it to the next level.

Alisha Forbes

Alisha says this is a job where you have your hands in a little bit of everything, and whoever takes her position next should care about their community and making it a better place.

Anyone who takes over my position, I would say the biggest thing is being a people person, loving being out in the community and loving helping other people.

Alisha Forbes

Forbes says she looks forward to the next step in her career.
