Man wanted for January 1 stabbing in North Platte

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A 53-year man is wanted by the North Platte Police Department (NPPD) for the stabbing injury to a 32-year old man on January 1 in North Platte.

53-year old Nick Cooper is wanted for the stabbing. He is 5′3″, 160 lbs, hazel eyes, grey hair, with “Lakota” tattooed on his neck.

A press release from NPPD explains that officers responded to the 1100 block of North Walnut for an assault at 10:19 p.m. on the first. According to the victim, the stabbing happened after an argument between him and Cooper. The man was stabbed with a serious but non-fatal wound in his abdomen. The man says the argument continued briefly after the stabbing and then Cooper fled the scene before the police arrived.

The stabbed man was taken to Great Plains Health by the North Platte Fire Department where he was treated for his injuries.

Cooper is wanted for First Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon the Commit a Felony. If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Nick Cooper, please contact the North Platte Police Department or Lincoln County Crime Stoppers.
