NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Police Department is investigating a crash over the weekend that left a home with extensive damage.

It happened on the corner of West 2nd and Buffalo Bill Avenue shortly after midnight, at 12:10 a.m. Police say a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer was traveling east on West 2nd Street. As it crossed Buffalo Bill Avenue, the driver failed to navigate the turn, went over the curb and struck the house. The home was vacant and sustained extensive damage, totaling the SUV.

A witness said the driver fled the scene. Officers located the owner of the vehicle. During their investigation, it was revealed the car was stolen from the 3900 Block of West 2nd Street shortly before the accident.

Police are still searching for the driver. The case remains under investigation.
