NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Public Schools Foundation is offering the Patrick Butera Scholarship for entrepreneurial spirited students. Alum of North Platte High School Jeremy Pratt and Jeffrey Johnson with their business, Nectar Markets LLC in Portland Oregon, created this scholarship to memorialize and honor their DECA teacher Patrick Butera. They say Mr. Patrick Butera was a large impact on them and say he encouraged them to pursue their dreams as entrepreneurs.

“Ultimately this was about Jeremy and I, in seeing his passing, wanting to do something that recognized how he contributed to our lives. Want to see people from North Platte be able to realize their dreams and go to college and start a business of their own someday,” said NPHS graduate and scholarship donor, Jeffrey Johnson.

This scholarship will be renewable for up to four years, It will be $10,000 a year for one lucky student this year. The application deadline for NPHS students will be Friday Jan. 15.
