It was a busy night of high school basketball, as the season begins to heat up.

In the girls game at Maxwell, the Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves pulled away in the fourth quarter and improved to 13-1 on the season with the win. The Maxwell boy’s team dominated start to finish in a statement win, defeating Maywood-Hayes Center 58-27.

At St. Pat’s, it was a showdown between two schools who have their eyes on spots in the Class D State Tournament in March. The Mullen girl’s team came away with a four-point win and survived a last second desperation shot from St. Pat’s that would have tied the game at 56. In the boys game, each team traded shots from start to finish, but in the end, Mullen survived a hard fought game, winning 57-53.
