Lotto fever hits North Platte as Mega Millions rise
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -The Mega Million jackpot is bringing out new and regular lottery players in North Platte. The Jan. 21 jackpot is the third-largest prize of all time worth almost $1 billion.
As time gets closer to the drawing, more residents are cashing in their odds at winning. If there is no winner declared, the jackpot may exceed $1 billion. This may lead to more excitement surrounding the large lottery pool and an increase of more tickets.
“Every customer is jumping in and getting tickets, so we been really busy on the lottery and that is really typically when the jackpot gets to $500 million or more,” Kwik Stop Director of Operations Tom Wolfgang
Earlier in the week, both the Powerball and mega millions valued over $500 million which led to the increase of ticket sales in the community.
The Jan. 22 drawing takes place at 10 p.m. and is worth $1 billion with a cash option of $736 million.
