NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The community of Lexington is continuing to help citizens with a weekly food distribution.

The Lexington Community Foundation along with Orthman’s and their countless partner agencies have been going non-stop every Thursday since April working to feed struggling families.

They currently serve about 700 households a week, many who come from surrounding communities.

“This has been a learning curve for all of and it’s hard hard to put into words the impact we’ve had and the tremendous need in the area,” said Jackie Berke, LCF executive director. “We have volunteers that load up 20 of everything and take it to the trailer courts and to the people in need because they know they don’t have transportation so there are those kinds of challenges that others are stepping up to fill and making sure that we’re serving everybody that needs it.”

The program is set to expire in April.
