NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - This week’s Friday Night Sports Hero is Dane Storer. Dane is an electrifying basketball player who can light up the scoreboard in a variety of ways. Dane has accomplished quite a bit in his four years at Paxton.

“Dane’s experienced a lot of things that most players wish they could experience in their careers. He’s won conference titles, he’s won district titles, played in a state tournament. He’s hit buzzer beaters for us and he’s just an all around good leader and an exceptional student,” said Paxton Head Coach Jody Rhodes.

Over the past four years, Dane and Coach Rhodes have developed a special bond.

“Oh he’s the best, I wouldn’t play for anyone else. I mean not only is he just a good coach, he’s a good person and fun to be around, said Storer of his coach.”

Dane leads the charge for the Tigers on offense. The Paxton boy’s basketball team is currently 12-6 this season, in large part due to Storer’s firepower.

“If you can create your own shot that usually takes you to the next level as a ball player and getting other people open and making them better is something he’s pretty good at too, so we’re really pleased to have him on both ends. I think he’s played every position one through five for us,” added Rhodes.

For Dane, it’s all about doing whatever it takes to win.

“Really I’m just trying to put my team in a position to win, it doesn’t matter if I have to go out there and get thirty points or five points, I’m a competitive guy and I want to win,” said Storer.

And if you’re wondering what kind of teammate he is, here’s what fellow senior Keegan Schow had to say about Dane:

As Storer’s high school basketball career enters the home stretch, Dane reflects on what representing Paxton has meant to him.

“Oh it means everything, just the community, the sense of pride in this town, there’s nothing better. When my family first moved here in 2009, just the feeling that we got from my older brother to me, it’s never left. I absolutely love this town, love this team, so this is a great way to go out,” concluded Storer.
