NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Several of our area wrestlers performed well in the Class D State Wrestling Tournament. Notably, Brady wrestler Jeremy Larson completed his undefeated campaign, earning the 132 crown by major decision 11-2. Larson becomes the first Brady wrestler to win a State Title, a huge milestone for the culture Head Coach Bobby Cahill is trying to build. Larson was a Friday Night Sports Hero earlier this year.

And another one of our area wrestlers entered the State Tournament without a loss. Sandhills Valley Sophomore Dayton Gipe made his way through to the Finals of the 120 division. Gipe’s Final match went the distance, but he fell short in overtime 4-2. Still, it was a remarkable season for the Mavericks wrestler who looks to be the face of the program going forward.

“It was out of the roof. It was crazy, the best feeling...It’s just a blessing to be in the finals.”” said Gipe after his semi-final victory.

The Sutherland Wrestling Team placed in the top five of Class D, taking 4th overall as a team. Gavin White and Samuel Foster led the way for the sailors with a pair of 3rd place finishes.
