NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - In Monday’s Lincoln County Commissioner’s meeting, the board passed a resolution, 3-2, not allowing sitting commissioners to have financial interest in contracts with Lincoln County.
County Commissioner Joe Hewgley tells News 2 that the company he owns has a part in the building project at the Lincoln County Jail. Hewgley said the Nebraska Attorney General ruled his part as an architectural consult in the current project legal.
Chairman Kent Weems said the opportunity for other businesses to serve community projects will help keep the integrity of the board intact.
While Hewgley’s part in the project stands, future projects are affected by Monday’s vote.
