NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The first day of meteorological spring has been a good one, but even warmer weather is expected as we head into the upcoming week!

For Tuesday, more sunshine is expected with temperatures climbing into upper 50s to mid 60s across western Nebraska. Westerly winds could be a bit breezy at times, at 10 to 20 MPH with some stronger wind gusts possible. A weak surface trough will push through the area on Tuesday, likely turning our winds more to the northwest by Tuesday evening with winds becoming light and variable by Tuesday night.

It’ll be a copy and paste forecast for the rest of the week as plenty of sunshine and mild weather is set to continue across the area as we’ll easily see our warmest stretch of weather for quite some time. Look for highs in North Platte to generally sit in the low to mid 60s over the coming days, potentially jumping to the upper 60s to near 70° by this weekend.

Chances for any moisture will be hard to come by over the next week. Probably our best chance will come into Thursday night with a system that will slide just to our south, but some scattered showers can’t be ruled out. That being said, mainly dry weather is expected for much of the next week. We’ll keep an eye on the weekend, while it should be dry it could be a bit breezy with strong south winds possible.
