NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - North Platte elementary school teachers are stepping up to give students the extra help they need with their learning plus social and emotional needs. The COVID-19 pandemic created a gap in learning for many students and North Platte Public School elementary teachers are making an effort to use one-on-one tutoring to improve student learning and emotional support. Kids Klub’s new effort, “Homework Club”, received a $20,000 gift from a donor to support their efforts. Teachers had stepped up before even considering the opportunity to be paid for their tutoring sessions.

Lincoln Elementary was the first to begin their Homework Club in October. They say they are excited to see the positive results from students.

Eisenhower Elementary says they see students building confidence.

Their goal is to expand Homework Club as they see more results in May when they retrieve scores that will show how much the students have improved through the program.
