NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Yesterday’s inclement weather resulted in a pair of soccer games at North Platte High School tonight. The Lady Bulldogs hosted Kearney in the first contest of the evening. North Platte entered the game with confidence on their side after a pair of weekend victories.

Neither team was able to find the net in the first half of play, but both groups had scoring opportunities. The Lady Bearcats converted those opportunities in the second half, with Junior Kierstynn Garner tallying two goals. The final score of the game came in interesting fashion. After a hand-ball was flagged deep in North Platte territory, Kearney maintained possession and play continued, leading to a third Bearcat goal. That would mark the end of the scoring as Kearney defeated North Platte 3-0.

The North Platte Boy’s team also entered tonight’s contest with a weekend victory over York in their back pocket. The Bulldogs allowed an early goal tonight, but played a solid first half aside from that. The end result was the same as the first game, though, a 3-0 victory for Kearney. With the loss, the Bulldogs fall to 1-3 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs are 2-2 early in the year.

Up next for the boy’s team is Omaha Central on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs return to action this Saturday, when they host Elkhorn South.
