North Platte & Hershey Tennis Teams victorious today
The Bulldogs and Panthers both took the courts in North Platte earlier this afternoon
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A pair of our local schools picked up wins on the tennis court this afternoon. It was a battle of the Bulldogs at Cody Park with North Platte hosting Alliance. Meanwhile, over at Madison Middle School, Hershey was taking on Scottsbluff.
North Platte found themselves in an early hole after doubles competition, with Alliance taking two out of three sets. Brianna Plaster and Kinley Stine earned the Bulldogs a point from the #1 spot, tallying an 8-4 victory. North Platte won four out of the six single sets, to claim a 5-4 victory on the day. Along with Plaster and Stine, Laurel Daily notched an 8-1 victory from the #6 singles position. Reagan Douglas won her match at the #4 spot, 8-3.
“Today was an awesome day for North Platte tennis. The girls really came out strong...You can tell that they’ve been putting a lot of work in during and outside of practice,” said North Platte Head Coach Danielle Blake.
The Hershey girl’s tennis team continued their dominant season against the Bearcats. Seniors Carly Sexson and Anna Berntson led the charge for the Panthers, earning victories at the top of the lineup. The duo also teamed up to score an 8-1 victory from the #1 doubles position. Hershey swept the singles matches, with no Panther giving up more than four games in their set.
“I’m proud of the way our girls competed...Scottsbluff was doing a great job of making us uncomfortable, but we just stayed positive and kept making balls believing that we would find a way to get the win,” said Panther Head Coach John Lehmer.
Both programs now turn their attention to the North Platte Girls Tennis Invitational that begins Thursday morning at 9:30.
