Downtown Association holds lighting ceremony
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -On April 8 at 7:30 p.m. the North Platte Downtown Association held a lighting ceremony to turn on the festoon lights for the first time. This marked a milestone in the Downtown Renovation Project.
Over the past few months, people visiting the area could see the addition of the new bricks, park benches, and now, the festoon lighting.
The festoon lighting will not just be brightening the downtown area but also uniting the community with some of its features. The lights can change colors. For example, during the Christmas season, the lights could be programs to be red and green. The light can also reflect support for our local sports teams when they are playing big games.
The festoon lighting is just one of the additions coming to downtown North Platte through the renovation project.
“I think we will see trees and flowers in the next month or two,” said Sarah Talbott president of the North Platte Downtown Association. “Once we have that done, we are pretty much done with this first big phase. We will have a grand opening ribbon cutting of downtown when we have everything done and throw a huge party for everyone to enjoy what all downtown has to offer.”
