North Platte Trap Team hosts competition
Ogallala finishes first with North Platte Blue and Gold taking 2nd and 3rd in the High School division
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Hundreds of athletes showcased their sharpshooting earlier today at the Lincoln County Wildlife Gun Club. The North Platte Youth Trap Team hosted today’s event that featured local athletes from communities including Maxwell, Ogallala, and Sutherland. All in all, eleven Nebraska towns were represented with 21 High School and 22 Jr. High squads.
“There’s some pretty good shooters out there and the new ones improve a little bit every week. It’s fun to watch them improve and get better,” said North Platte Coach Bryan Yenni.
Yenni’s son Harley is a high school sophomore who represents the North Platte Trap Team. Harley recorded a season best 89 today, good enough to earn 2nd place among his fellow high school competitors. Harley already has his eyes set on the State Tournament, but in the meantime, he’s enjoying the time on the range with his dad.
“I’m coming along pretty strong and he just motivates me and tries to keep me going. it’s a lot of fun,” said Harley of his relationship with his coach.
