NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - What a Senior Night it was for the North Platte Boy’s Soccer Team. After several weeks on the road, a return to Bauer Field did the Bulldogs well as they light up the scoreboard, netting seven goals before the halftime intermission. Less than twenty minutes in to the second frame, three more North Platte goals would end the game, and the celebration was on for the Bulldogs.

“I haven’t been a part of a group where when we score, all ten guys get together and celebrate together...On the sideline, that’s just really fun to watch,” said Head Coach Danny Whitney.

Jaylan Ruffin represents North Platte as an esteemed wrestler, but today, he received his shining moment on the soccer field. On his Senior Night, Ruffin pulled off a hat trick to put an exclamation point on his Bulldog athletic career.

“I feel good, it was a great team effort. My friends got me the ball and helped set me up, it was a lot of fun,” said Ruffin after the victory.

One friend and teammate Ruffin was referring to is Junior, Tyler Luna. Luna assisted on Ruffin’s third goal with a beautiful header that left Jaylan with only the goalie to beat in front of the net.

“It was awesome, it was the best because it was Senior Night. I’m just happy all these seniors were having a blast out here,” said Luna of Ruffin’s performance.

Ryan Kaminski also enjoyed a multi-goal game this evening. The Junior midfielder netted the ninth Bulldog score and was pleased to help secure a victory for the team today.

“Our seniors have done so much for us and it’s just an amazing feeling to give them this last Senior Night game,” said Kaminski.

Meanwhile in Gering, the Lady Bulldogs were having no trouble finding the net themselves. The North Platte Girl’s Soccer team also notches a 10-0 victory, extending their win streak to nine games. In the process, Gracie Haneborg made history, setting a new school record for most goals scored in a single game. The senior found the net six times this afternoon, helping to lift her team to victory.

Both North Platte Soccer teams return to action this Friday.
