NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - North Platte Community College’s graduation is one week away.

Antonia Villani is this year’s commencement speaker. She graduated with an Associates of Science degree in 2017 and also selected as the commencement speaker. Villani enrolled in the nursing program in 2019.

Villani says she’s had many setbacks in life, but admits she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“Eventhough it may not be happening right here, right now, when we plan on it and continue working towards those goals eventually it will,” Villani said. “If I would’ve given up two years ago, three years ago, I wouldn’t be graduating as an RN and that was my ultimate goal from the time I was little. I just continued working and now here we are seven days away.”

Villani is from Frederick, Colorado. She has accepted a position in the critical care unit at Great Plains Health.

Commencement is set for 3 p.m. on May 7. The ceremony is open to the public. Guests will be required to wear masks and adhere to current social distancing protocols.
