Kids Klub celebrates Arbor Day by planting trees
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -On April 30, the Kids Klub is celebrating Arbor Day by planting trees at the Buffalo Early Learning Center Outdoor Playground. A donation from the Nebraska Children and Families foundation helped fund seven trees to the outdoor play area.
“This is just a wonderful opportunity and the first of its time this school year,” said Director of Kids Klub Carrie Lienemann. " Last year, we were giving the same opportunity and we were going to plant Saplings, but COVID shut down the schools and our Kids Klub afternoon time. We ended up turning that into a drive-thru event and the parents were able to pick up the Saplings and plant them at home.”
Students from Eisenhower elementary Kids Klub assisted with North Platte Public School maintenance crew in planting the trees to enhance the Buffalo Early Learning Center playground.
“They are going to get dirty and dig in the dirt,” said Lienemann. “They have learned about Arbor Day and they are going to planting the trees themselves. For years to come these trees will be here for them. They are putting a legacy in the ground is very exciting.”
