The first Monday of May... cooler, cloudy and windy

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (KNEP) - The warm weather that ushered out the month of April continues to carry over into the month of May...A month that historically is responsible for a wide variety of weather.

The start of May 2021 was a warm one as temperatures made it into the low 90s to kick off the weekend. Sunday temperatures were much cooler than what we saw on Saturday. A cold front made its way through the state Sunday afternoon which brought with it thunderstorms, showers and breezy conditions.

Those breezy to windy conditions will carry over to Monday for much of the state. Gusts up to 35 MPH can be expected for North Platte and gusts up to 25 MPH for Scottsbluff.

The clouds and the strong northerly flow will keep temperatures down to start the workweek, Temperatures will range from the low-60s on Monday to the mid-60s on Tuesday, below our average high which is near 70.

Other than a few showers Wednesday and more rain chances over the weekend, we will be mainly dry. Another warming trend will continue through the end of the workweek with highs rising through the 70s, to some areas out west, in the lower 80s.
