NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -A local Girl Scout troop is trying to do what they can to help others in the community. On May 1, members of troop 18145 hosted a food and clothing drive in front of Rock Church.

The troop plans to donate the food to the North Platte High School Pantry. The clothes will be donated to various organizations such as Rape, Domestic Abuse Program, Debra’s Legacy and the Foster Closet. The troop holds many events throughout the year.

One scout shares why she enjoys being a girl scout.

“You get to do fun stuff for the community, sell Girl Scout cookies and attend a camp with other Girl Scouts,” said Chloe Frederick.

In the upcoming months, Troop 18145 hopes to host another food and clothing drive, build a free library and plant a tree in the community.
