NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - On a warm and sunny afternoon at Bauer Field, the North Platte Girl’s Soccer Team shut out Fremont for the second time this season. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead and kept the pressure on the Tigers throughout the game. North Platte’s aggressive game plan and solid defense resulted in a relatively easy day in net for senior goalie Abby Orr.

“I think we’re feeling pretty confident after today. I have full faith and confidence in my team,” said Orr.

With the victory, North Platte is now set to host Pius X in the A-4 District Finals.

“We’re excited to have the game here on Wednesday. Our girls rise to the occasion and are very competitive,” said Head Coach Sarah Kaminski.

But excitement won’t be the only emotion some on the team will feel when they take the field, looking to secure a spot in the State Tournament. Senior Gracie Haneborg has given her time and talents to Bulldog athletics for the last several years. Next week, she will put on a show at Bauer Field for the last time.

“I do feel sad because this is the field I grew up on and I don’t want to leave. I have two little cousins on the team and this whole team is like family to me, so it’s really hard for me. Win or lose on Wednesday, I’m still going to be crying,” reflected Gracie.
