Main mall entrance to close soon, signage to be posted
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The first phase of the Platte River Mall reconstruction is underway. Earlier this week, a fence was installed around the perimeter to the main exterior of the mall.
Crews have demolished a small portion of the north end of the building, between Herberger’s and GNC, for the temporary main entrance of the mall.
Mall customers will also notice more changes in the coming days and weeks.
“There will be signage that goes up on that fence very quickly to let citizens of North Platte know where they need to turn in,” said Mike Works, a partner with REV Development. “So if you are going to Ashley Furniture, you’ll want to turn in on the south entrance; so the first entrance to the mall you’ll want to turn in. If you want to go in the mall itself, you’re going to want to turn in after the fence on the second entrance; basically, the north entrance from Dewey Street. So right after the fence and right after the tire store you’ll want to turn in on Dewey Street and that will take you to the new mall entrance. If you go there today, I think you will see that they started work on the new mall entrance, basically on the north end of the mall, and that entrance will be open here sometime in the next seven days.”
The mall will be open throughout the project, beginning with the construction of the four-story apartment retail complex, which is expected to begin next week.
