NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -On June 6, the opening ceremony for the Miss Nebraska Competition was held at the Platte River Mall. Young ladies, in this year’s competition, came from various parts of the state. Each of them had the opportunity to introduce themselves and showcase their personalities.

“I would like people to know pageant girls are more than just our crowns. We want to do good things in the world,” said Adaline Linscott Miss Douglas County Outstanding Teen 2021.

Each of the contestants has a social impact initiative which that focuses on implementing positive change.

“My social impact initiative was inspired after I was hospitalized in 2015,” said Courtney Pelland Miss Nebraska State Fair 2020. “I learned that I have deficiency anemia. Eventually, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. I am taking my story and initiative to encourage and educate about blood donation across Nebraska.”

During the week of the Miss Nebraska competition, the contestants will be taking their passions and talents to the stage. The competition highlights more than the beauty and brains of each contestant. It shows how each young woman is being an inspiration to others.

“It is important for young teenaged girls to use their voice,” said Jamie Rosecken Miss Scottsbluff County Outstanding Teen 2020. “I think that the Miss Nebraska Competition is impressive because all these young women are using their platform and community presence to make a difference.”

The 2021 Miss Nebraska Scholarship competition is being held from June 10 through June 12. Preliminaries will be on Thursday, June 10 at North Platte High School starting at 7 pm.
