NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -On June 10, residents and supporters of the Miss Nebraska competition gathered at North Platte High School for its opening night. Roughly thirty young ladies from different parts of the state are competing for the title of Miss Nebraska and Miss Nebraska Outstanding Teen.

During the preliminaries, half of the contestants participated in the questionnaire event where they shared their social impact initiatives. The other half of the contestants performed their talent routines. Acts ranged from singing, dancing, baton twirling and piano playing.

Each night, second and third graders participating in the Miss Nebraska mentoring program will also perform. The girls in the mentoring program are paired with contestants who are referred to as “little sisters.”

The second night of the Miss Nebraska competition is June 11 at 7 p.m. at the North Platte High School Auditorium. Contestants will participate in the different events from the prior night.
