NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The Lincoln County Jail is getting safer. During the daily Lincoln County Commissioners meeting today, the Lincoln County Commissioners are discussing legislation about new body scanners at the Lincoln County Jail. These measures are after an increase in security problems at the jail.

“The real impact is the safety and security of our jail personnel. Weapons aren’t smuggled in,” said Kent Weems Commissioner of District 2.

Not only the employees are going to be in a better environment at the jail, but the prisoners too.

“And the health of the prisoners, solicited drugs aren’t being brought in. People overdosing, and those types of things,” Weems said.

TheLincoln County Jail is installing these body scanners by September or October.
