NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -A fun event for people ages fifty-five and older is the Golden Games. Participants can play games such as bingo, corn hole, miniature golf and many more. This is all for the chance to win various prizes. People from surrounding areas come from as far as Lincoln and Omaha to play in the Golden Games.

As a part of the Golden Games, one person was awarded and recognized as the golden senior.

“We award this person because of community service. It could be in their working career or volunteer,” said Dana Songster RSVP director and president of the Golden Games committee.

This year’s golden senior award goes to Former Lincoln County sheriff and Commissioner Duane Detering.

The Golden Games have been a part of the NEBRASKALAND for many years.
