Jeffers Bridge reopens last week
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - Over the last several months, the Jeffers bridge has been in construction, and as of Oct. 8, the bridge is finally completed from construction. The purpose of this construction was to fix repairs that needed to be done and also to help maintain the road moving forward.
The construction cost for this bridge renovation was approximately $3.9 million. During the construction, the bridge only had one northbound lane and one southbound lane opened, and now with the construction completed, both northbound and southbound lanes are back opened. The 6th and 7th Streets around the bridges were also closed as well.
“This particular bridge is part of a project that included four area bridges around Lincoln County that needed repairs and some slight updates,” District 6 Construction Engineer Cameron Craig said. “As you can see, we worked on the bridge and it just maintains the mobility and structure itself.”
The next bridge apart of the series that will be in construction will be near the airport next spring.
