NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Area Habitat for Humanity is hosting their yearly Lego Build contest. The contest was started two years ago as a way to get kids involved with the charitable organization, and grew into a town favorite. According to organizer Jen Kupp, the contest had the amount of applicants double from the first year to the second.

Kupp said she’s always amazed with the creativity of the entries. “[The contestants] are amazing! The first year the winner actually had a series of photos with the house in progress of being built, with the little men in hard hats doing the building.” She noted that they have also had people do themed houses like log cabins, beach houses and a Star Wars themed house.

According to Kupp, the contest is designed to remind kids about the importance of helping build houses in the community. While the contest is designed to remind kids about the organization, it’s also meant to be a fun challenge for builders of all ages.
