Mostly cloudy and warm Wednesday; Changes coming late week
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) -SCOTTSBLUFF,Neb.(KNEP)- After a breezy and warm day Tuesday, the warmth will continue into our region Wednesday with the increase of clouds. The area of will see a lot of changes once we round the workweek into the weekend.
During the morning Wednesday, we started to see an increase of clouds entering into the region and with these clouds, that has allowed temperatures to be warmer for this time of year and also then Tuesday morning with those indicies being in the 30s into the low 50s in some spots. Winds were relatively calm around 5 to 10 mph and dew points were somewhat dry as well. This is due to an area of high pressure to our south and east and our storm system to our north and west. During the day Wednesday, temperatures will be climbing into the upper 60s to low 80s with winds around 5 to 15 mph and with mostly cloudy conditions. Overnight Wednesday, temperatures will dropping into the 30s and 40s with clearing conditions.
During the day Thursday, a pattern change will start to commence with our storm system apporaching from the north and west. Ahead of this system, we will see some sunshine ahead of it and temperatures will rebound into the upper 60s to low 80s once again. Overnight Thursday into Saturday, several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will be developing and this will allow for us to see some well needed moisture here across the area. Temperatures will also be going down as well, with them being below average. The placement and speed of this system is still little uncertain and will continue to monitor this over the next 24 to 48 hours.
The overall amount of rain we are thinking right now with a consensus of guidance are thinking between a .5 to 2 inches for the Nebraska Panhandle and 1 to 2.5 inches of rain for Greater Nebraska and we could see some locally higher amounts as well. Continue to tune in for any updates on these amounts moving forward.
