Gothenburg Police say a 16-year-old teenager from Gothenburg died from a gunshot wound. Officials say the shooting happened Friday night at 10:23 pm at a home on the 1000 block on Jefferson Street.
Shannon Vanderheiden with the West Central District Health Department says they've tested 163 people in Lincoln County. She says 16 people tested positive which is a positive test rate of almost 10%.
Health officials continue to announce additional confirmed positive COVID-19 tests statewide, bringing Nebraska’s total to 434 as of Tuesday morning.
"My uncle passed, my grandmother passed, my dad passed, then my other uncle passed," Anthony Franklin said. "It's literally like seven to eight days apart. It's horrific."
The brother of Wando Evans, who died of COVID-19, is suing Walmart, alleging a Chicago-area store failed to notify workers after several employees began showing symptoms.
“Everything the person touches, clean up after yourself. It could be as small as flushing the toilet, you touch that knob to flush it, clean it up ,” one paramedic said.
"In the midst of all this chaos, the band still played on, that is until they were advised in the middle of the 1975 classic 'Wish You Were Here,' that they must stop the show," police said.
"Had she not been COVID-19 positive ... likely she would have not gone into preterm labor and there would have been a different outcome," the coroner said.
